Universities

Stay in peaceful, centrally-located Brasher Falls when visiting your friend or relative who is attending school at the St. Lawrence, Clarkson or SUNY university campuses!

  

St. Lawrence University (25 miles)

Founded April 3, 1856, SLU is the oldest continuously coeducational institution of higher learning in New York State. In an ideal location, St. Lawrence is a diverse liberal arts learning community of inspiring faculty, serious students, and accomplished alumni, guided by tradition and focused on the future.

  

  

Clarkson University (15 miles)

Combined Ingenuity. That's Genius. That's Clarkson. They have made many achievements as a University and as a body of students whose accomplishments on campus and as alumni after graduation is ever-growing.

  

  

SUNY Potsdam (15 miles)

Located in beautiful northern New York, this is a small liberal arts college providing an education that is driven by quality delivered in a way that is uniquely personal. SUNY Potsdam has the longest history of any institution within the SUNY System. The Adirondack Park is minutes from the campus.

  

  

SUNY Canton (27 miles)

SUNY Canton is a vibrant, colorful community of people learning and growing together. The college has a record of excellence in providing an educational experience that prepares students for transfer or employment. SUNY Canton is a member of the Associated Colleges of the St. Lawrence Valley, a four-college consortium that also includes Clarkson University, the SUNY Potsdam and St. Lawrence University.

Outdoor Sports

ATV Trails

A popular recreational outdoor activity in North Country New York is ATV trail riding. St. Lawrence County has many trails and town roads which are ATV-accessible. The County Association and various clubs belonging to the association encourage safe travel. Town roads that are accessible are marked with ATV signs.

  

  

Snowmobile Trails

The St. Lawrence County Snowmobiling Association's 500 + miles of groomed trails will take you through various types of scenery with something for every rider. We do not own land nor do we lease lands. Most trails are open through the generosity of landowners and or lessees.

  

  

Fishing

Wherever you are in St. Lawrence County, great fishing is only minutes away. From the foothills of the Adirondacks to the St. Lawrence River, the North Country offers fishing opportunities for everyone. Dozens of rivers, lakes, reservoirs, and streams offer peaceful surroundings, a variety of species, strong fish populations, and good public access.

  

  

Hunting

Today, St. Lawrence County provides better conditions for some wildlife than at any other time. The combination of existing farmland adjacent to wild areas has produced a population explosion of deer, turkey, partridge, rabbit, and other small game.
